Online Jewelry Photography Courses

Jewelry photography can be challenging if you don’t have the right lighting, photoshop skills and props. But like most other things, there are different approaches to do the job. Some photographers prefer to set the lighting up perfectly for each shot, which minimizes post-production. Some take a quick image and then do the rest in photoshop.

There is a lot of content on YouTube on photographing and editing jewelry but in terms of courses that take you from start to finish, I could only find a few. If you come across other good ones, please comment and I’ll add the link here.

photigy.com – This is a site targeted at photographers so their classes use pro equipment that isn’t really ideal for a home studio. If you are a professional photographer who wants to expand into jewelry, the courses on this site might work for you. They are pretty pricey for online courses. I’ve done one of the courses and while the content is good, the quality of the sound/video is poor.

Jewelry course on Lynda.com – This course talks about a DIY set up but the lighting used it still pretty bulky and expensive. Not ideal for someone starting out. I took this course few years ago.

Jewelry course on Udemy: I haven’t taken this course but from the curriculum it seems pretty broad. It covers everything from using a phone to using a DSLR.

Product photography course with jewelry section: This course is on Creative Live – more general product work but the curriculum has a few chapters on jewelry. I haven’t done the course. It looks pretty detailed through. Reviews are so-so – take a look and decide if this is right for you.

If you’re looking to outsource your project, please take a look at our homepage for our jewelry photography pricing. For more DIY tips and ideas, view our jewelry photography page.

I will keep updating this page as I come across new courses.

If you’ve tried other courses and are don’t find what you’re looking for, please comment and tell us what you’re looking for. I’m considering developing a course and would love some feedback.
